Chapter 02 / 05

Record, review, and transfer

Capture a short activity on Watch, check it on iPhone, and send it to your Mac.

Capture on Apple Watch

  1. Open WatchMotion Editor on your Watch. Choose Record when you are ready.
  2. Perform the movement with a short quiet pause before and after it. Keep the Watch app open throughout the recording.
  3. Choose Stop. Wait for the recording to arrive on the paired iPhone.

Check the recording on iPhone

Open the recording and check the duration, sample count, and motion preview. Switch between the available motion signals to make sure the movement is present. Add a brief note describing what happened.

For this example, use a note such as: ‘Move the small box from the left marker to the right marker. Pause between transfers.’ Avoid participant names or sensitive details unless they are necessary and you have permission to record them.

Connect to your Mac

  1. Open the Mac app and choose Start Receiving.
  2. On iPhone, open Connection Settings and connect to your Mac. Keep Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled and grant local network access.
  3. Approve the iPhone connection on Mac when prompted. Send the recording and wait for confirmation that it was received.
  4. Select the received recording in the Mac sidebar and inspect its charts.

If a recording has not arrived

Check Saved Files on Watch. Retained files remain available until the iPhone confirms import. If needed, use Resend while the devices are nearby. Do not delete the only copy of a recording while a transfer is still pending.

If your Mac is not visible, check local network permission and Start Receiving before retrying. The Support page has a connection checklist.
